The Material Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless availability, maintenance, and delivery of materials for large-scale Oil & Gas industrial construction projects. This position demands a strategic leader with a robust technical background in piping and metal structure, as well as a deep understanding of logistics, supply chain management, and equipment management.
The successful candidate will oversee the procurement, storage and transportation of essential materials - such as tubes, flanges, fitting, bolts, metal structure — to support project timelines, safety standards, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills to manage teams, optimize resources, and mitigate risks in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
1. Material & Equipment Availability
 
Plan and coordinate the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment to align with project schedules and operational demands.
Monitor inventory levels and anticipate material requirements to prevent shortages or excess stock, ensuring cost-efficient resource allocation.
Collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality materials and equipment from approved vendors, adhering to company standards and project specifications.
 
2. Yard & Logistics Management
 
Supervise the handling, unloading, and storage of incoming materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and organizational procedures.
Optimize yard layout for efficient material flow, accessibility, and security, minimizing risks of damage or loss.
 
3. Equipment Selection & Deployment
 
Provide technical expertise to project teams on the selection of appropriate equipment based on project scope, environmental conditions, and operational requirements.
Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to enhance efficiency and safety.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., API, ISO, OSHA) and company policies for equipment usage 
 
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
 
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to align material and equipment strategies with project milestones.
Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to address logistical challenges, delays, or changes in project scope.
Prepare and present reports on material status, equipment utilization, and logistics performance to senior management.
 
5. Risk & Compliance Management
 
Identify and mitigate risks related to material shortages, equipment failures, or logistical bottlenecks.
Enforce safety and environmental standards in all material handling, storage, and transportation activities.
Ensure documentation compliance for equipment certifications, maintenance records, and inventory tracking.
