Description de la mission

The Diesel Motor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of diesel engines used in industrial, transportation, or marine environments. This role involves managing a team of diesel mechanics, coordinating maintenance schedules,
diagnosing engine issues, and ensuring that all maintenance work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. The supervisor plays a key role in optimizing engine performance, reducing downtime, and extending the lifespan of diesel motors.

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of diesel mechanics and technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality maintenance work.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical support to the maintenance team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage team schedules, and address any personnel issues as needed.

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for diesel engines to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate with other departments (such as operations and logistics) to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Adjust maintenance plans as needed to address unplanned engine breakdowns or emergency repairs.

Engine Diagnostics, Inspection, & Repair:

  • Oversee the inspection and testing of diesel engines to identify potential issues and ensure proper operation.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or fuel-related issues in diesel engines, and determine the necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Supervise the repair or replacement of engine components such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, pistons, gaskets, and cooling systems.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities follow manufacturer specifications, safety protocols, and industry standards (e.g., EPA emissions regulations).

Troubleshooting & Technical Support:

  • Act as the technical expert for diesel engine-related issues, providing troubleshooting support to the maintenan ce team and other departments
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex engine problems and optimize performance.
  • Review maintenance records and engine performance data to identify patterns, root causes of failures, and areas for improvement.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all diesel engine maintenance activities comply with safety regulations (such as OSHA) and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training to promote a safe work
    environment and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Implement and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols during engine maintenance.

Inventory & Equipment Management:

  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for diesel engine maintenance.
  • Ensure that tools and diagnostic equipment are properly calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary.

Profil

Education:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics or engine maintenance is preferred.
Associate degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is a plus.

Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in diesel engine maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
Extensive knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel injection,
turbocharging, cooling, and electrical systems.
Familiar with industry standards and regulations (such as EPA emissions standards) and best practices for diesel engine maintenance.

Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Expertise in diesel engine troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engine specifications.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software for diesel engine systems.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to diesel engine maintenance
Position based in Soyo, ANGOLA.
