Description de la mission
The Machine-Shop Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the machine shop to ensure efficient production, quality control, and safety compliance. This role involves supervising a team of machinists and operators, scheduling production activities, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with other departments to meet production goals and deadlines. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, precision, and machine maintenance within the shop.
Supervision & Leadership:
- Manage and lead a team of Team leaders, Machinists, QA/QC , and other
production staff. - Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to the team to develop skills and improve performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and handle disciplinary actions when necessary.
Production Scheduling & Planning:
- Plan and schedule daily production activities to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.
- Prioritize tasks based on production goals, machine availability, and labor capacity.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to ensure optimal shop performance.
Quality Control:
- Ensure products meet or exceed quality standards through regular inspections and testing.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any defects or nonconformities.
- Maintain documentation of quality checks, including first-article inspections and in-process inspections.
Machine Operation & Maintenance:
- Oversee the proper operation of machines-tools, lathes, milling machines, and other shop equipment.
- Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and ensure timely repair or replacement
Inventory & Supply Management:
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, tooling, and supplies.
- Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely acquisition of materials and
components. - Implement strategies to reduce waste and optimize material usage
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all shop activities adhere to safety standards and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and training sessions.
- Implement and maintain shop cleanliness, safety, security, and organization according to company golden rules.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with engineering, production planning, and procurement departments to align production with project goals.
- Communicate clearly with upper management, providing updates on production progress, machine performance, and any operational challenges.
- Liaise with clients or external contractors when necessary to resolve issues or clarify specifications.
Position based in Soyo, ANGOLA.
Profil
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or an associate degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong background in machine operation, and maintenance.
Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Proficient in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
Solid understanding of production processes, materials, and machining
technologies.
Familiarity with safety regulations and quality management systems (ISO,
AS9100, etc.).
