Job description

We are currently seeking candidates for 2 year fixed term positions at Hinkley Point C location. We would be looking to deploy in January and March 2026. 

This role will be responsible for supervising a team of platers to ensure the safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of fabrication and plating activities in accordance with nuclear safety culture and project requirements at site.

Key Deliverables:

  • Champion safety, quality, and productivity within the team, ensuring compliance with all site and nuclear safety standards. 
  • Allocate tasks and set team members to work, delivering pre- and post-job briefings and checking understanding. 
  • Monitor and inspect work to ensure it meets technical specifications, safety, and quality requirements. 
  • Manage team performance, motivation, and discipline, including timekeeping and welfare. 
  • Liaise with other teams and supervisors to coordinate activities and resolve technical or logistical issues. 
  • Ensure the team’s logistical needs are met, including timely provision of drawings, materials, and work instructions. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment, controlling materials, waste, and equipment. 
  • Provide mentoring and support to team members to develop their capability and understanding. 
  • Report progress, hazards, incidents, and non-conformances promptly to the Plater Superintendent and relevant stakeholders. 

Profile

Qualifications and Work Experience:

Essential: Level 3 Apprenticeship OR Level 3 Diploma in Plating, Fabrication, Welding, Structural Steelwork, Shipbuilding 
Essential: ACE Card Level 3 in Plating (or equivalent) 
Essential: CCNSG Safety Passport 
Essential: Completion of ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE (within 6 months of start date upon demonstration of enrolment) OR Completion of Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS) within 4 weeks of start date upon demonstration of booking and CMI Level 3 (following completion of NECS) 
Essential: LATS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely (as required by site) 
Essential: Experience working on site delivering to safety and quality specifications within the technical area of plating/fabrication. 
Essential: Experience supervising a team, with an understanding of the different capabilities required to deliver the activity.

Job Specific Knowledge:

Essential: Technical competence in plating/fabrication processes and standards. 
Essential: Understanding of nuclear safety culture and site-specific requirements. 
Essential: Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to fabrication activities.
