The company PONTICELLI ANGOIL, a subsidiary of the Ponticelli Frères Group, is recruiting as part of the project. 

 

Would you like to develop your experience as a Material Manager (M/F) and help transform the world as part of a family-owned group that works to provide people with what they will always need: energy, health, water, food and security, while sincerely respecting the planet and its employees?

 

We invite you to join us on a technical support contract. The position is based in Luanda in Angola. 

 

The Material Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless availability, maintenance, and delivery of materials and heavy equipment for large-scale Oil & Gas industrial construction projects.

He will oversee the procurement, storage, maintenance, and transportation of essential materials and machinery—such as vehicles, cranes, compressors, and generators—to support project timelines, safety standards, and operational efficiency.

 

The position we are offering involves the following main responsibilities:

1. MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

  • plan and coordinate the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment to align with project schedules and operational demands;
  • monitor inventory levels and anticipate material requirements to prevent shortages or excess stock, ensuring cost-efficient resource allocation;
  • collaborate with procurement teams to source high-quality materials and equipment from approved vendors, adhering to company standards and project specifications.

 

2. YARD & LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

  • supervise the handling, unloading, and storage of incoming materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and organizational procedures;
  • optimize yard layout for efficient material flow, accessibility, and security, minimizing risks of damage or loss;
  • coordinate with third-party logistics providers to streamline transportation, customs clearance (if applicable), and on-time delivery to project sites.

 

3. MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONAL READINESS

  • lead and mentor the maintenance team to ensure all equipment—including vehicles, cranes, compressors, and generators—is inspected, serviced, and operational before deployment;
  • develop preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of critical assets;
  • troubleshoot technical issues related to mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, liaising with engineers and technicians as needed.

 

4. EQUIPMENT SELECTION & DEPLOYMENT 

  • provide technical expertise to project teams on the selection of appropriate equipment based on project scope, environmental conditions, and operational requirements;
  • evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to enhance efficiency and safety;
  • ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., API, ISO, OSHA) and company policies for equipment usage and maintenance.

Field-based role with frequent travel to project sites, yards, and vendor locations.

Profile

You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Also a certifications in project management (PMP), logistics (CSCP), or equipment safety are advantageous.
You have proven 5 years experience in material management, logistics, or supply chain operations, preferably in Oil & Gas, industrial construction, or heavy engineering.

You have a depth knowledge of mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with hands-on experience maintaining heavy machinery (e.g., cranes, compressors, generators, vehicles).
You are familiar with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO) and regulatory requirements for equipment safety and operations.

This role requires strong decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills to manage teams, optimize resources, and mitigate risks in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
You have a strong leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams, including maintenance crews, logistics personnel, and vendors.
You have developped an exceptional problem-solving skills to address operational challenges, equipment failures, or supply chain disruptions.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

You are excellent in communication (written and verbal) in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

Field-based role with frequent travel to project sites, yards, and vendor locations.
Physically demanding at times, requiring the ability to inspect equipment, oversee loading/unloading, and work in outdoor or industrial settings.
Fast-paced and high-pressure, with a focus on meeting tight deadlines while upholding safety and quality standards.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
