The Diesel Motor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of diesel engines used in industrial, transportation, or marine environments. This role involves managing a team of diesel mechanics, coordinating maintenance schedules,
diagnosing engine issues, and ensuring that all maintenance work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. The supervisor plays a key role in optimizing engine performance, reducing downtime, and extending the lifespan of diesel motors.
Supervision & Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of diesel mechanics and technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality maintenance work.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to the maintenance team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Conduct performance evaluations, manage team schedules, and address any personnel issues as needed.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for diesel engines to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
- Adjust maintenance plans as needed to address unplanned engine breakdowns or emergency repairs.
Engine Diagnostics, Inspection, & Repair:
Oversee the inspection and testing of diesel engines to identify potential issues and ensure proper operation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or fuel-related issues in diesel engines, and determine the necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Supervise the repair or replacement of engine components such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, pistons, gaskets, and cooling systems.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities follow manufacturer specifications, safety protocols, and industry standards (e.g., EPA emissions regulations).
Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
Act as the technical expert for diesel engine-related issues, providing troubleshooting support to the maintenan ce team and other departments
- Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex engine problems and optimize performance.
- Review maintenance records and engine performance data to identify patterns, root causes of failures, and areas for improvement.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all diesel engine maintenance activities comply with safety regulations (such as OSHA) and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training to promote a safe work
environment and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). - Implement and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols during engine maintenance.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for diesel engine maintenance.
- Ensure that tools and diagnostic equipment are properly calibrated and in good working condition.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary.
